The Buffs will open up their 2018 preseason at home against the Colorado State Rams on September 1st at Folsom Field. Utah State

Utah State is the first of two road games for the Buffs. The Aggies average 27.8 points per game and allow 24.5 points per game, but their stats are skewed because of their stunning upset win over Oklahoma in their season opener. Utah State has one of the nation’s top wide receiver duos in J.T. Davis and Jalen Harvey, who combine for 13 touchdowns. The Aggies also have a dangerous running back duo in Shaun Wilson and Devlon Simmons. Wilson has 712 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns and Simmons has 629 yards and three TDs receiving. Utah State will pose the biggest threat to Colorado’s quest for the bowl. Defensive end Jalen Simmons had two sacks and an interception for the Aggies.

Northern Colorado

Colorado visited Northern Colorado a year ago, Colorado’s first game of the season, and the Bears were blown out 59-0 in Greeley. Needless to say, the Buffs will be a little more focused this time around. Northern Colorado will present another test for the Buffs offense, as they rank No. 6 in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 13.8 points per game. The Bears are led by safety Jalen Myrick, who has three interceptions, and linebacker Keldrick Williams, who has seven sacks. Northern Colorado’s offense is led by quarterback Chris Streveler. Streveler threw for 3,144 yards and 25 touchdowns last season. Running back Jordan Howard is one of the Big Sky’s top returning running backs. Defensive Prospects to Watch

Wade also had one of the best freshman seasons in program history, which is saying something. He had 10.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss in just six games. He might be one of the most talented players on the team and will be a big test for the Buffs’ offensive line.

Special Teams Prospects to Watch

Junior kicker Nate Urban is 2-for-2 on field goals with a long of 54 yards. Urban also made six-of-seven extra points last year.

Strength to Weakness
