Winter Sports Competition

Must read

The winter Olympics began in 1920 with the inclusion of winter sports, including ice hockey and figure skating. In the year following the inaugural Games, ice hockey won its first ever Winter Olympics and Norway took home 17 medals. This was a huge success, and the IOC reformed its charter to include winter sports as a separate event.

Traditionally, winter sports competition were only held during cold seasons, but now artificial snow makes it possible to participate year-round. Various winter sports offer a great workout during the cold months, and many sports include the ability to jump, ski, and perform aerial tricks. Many people also choose to participate in ice hockey, which offers the added incentive of scoring more goals than the opposing team. No matter which type of winter sports you choose to participate in, there’s bound to be a competition for you.
