Currently, the team is led by Aileen Morales. Here are some things to know about the Yellow Jackets. Here are some of the team’s traditions and rivalry. You can also learn more about the team name and recruitment. But before we begin, let’s look at some of its other features.

Recruiting

The process of recruiting for Georgia Tech softball has changed a lot over the past few years, and the process for one player has changed a lot for another. While there are still some players who have not committed to the Yellow Jackets, many recruits have made it very clear that they are serious about playing at the school. Despite the changes, the program has seen a significant improvement since the last time it recruited in high school.

For example, in the fall signing period, Georgia Tech softball added eight new student-athletes, including three pitchers, two infielders and two outfielders. These eight players make up the Georgia Tech softball 2021 class, which is ranked No. 17 nationally and is the top class in the state. In addition, five of the players have been recognized on the Extra Inning Softball 2021 Extra Elite 100.

Traditions

The yellow jackets defeated Clemson in the first round of the ACC tournament on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore outfielder Emily Hallmann, who hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning. A fielding error by Yellow Jacket shortstop Edel Leyden allowed Pereira to reach base, where she advanced to third base. The Yellow Jackets then added two more runs in the fifth inning to win the game, 9-6.

The Yellow Jackets first fielded a softball team in 1987. In the first four seasons, the team was led by six different coaches. After that, head coach Regina Tomaselli led the team to six straight winning seasons. From 1999 to 2003, Kate Madden guided the team to an undefeated record. From 2004 to 2006, Ehren Earleywine served as the team’s head coach, winning the conference title in both 2004 and 2005. Perkins served as the assistant coach at the University of Georgia for a few years before joining the Yellow Jackets in 2007.

Rivalry

While many people do not understand the Rivalry in Georgia Tech softball, those in the know can appreciate how incredibly competitive this sport is. The two rival schools have been playing each other for nearly 20 years. The Bulldogs went 22-6 in their last meeting in 1991, and Tech is a perfect 14-0 in its last five meetings. In fact, the Bulldogs outscored the Yellow Jackets 83-28 in the last two years alone. The Bulldogs lead the series 67-45-1.

The rivalry between Georgia Tech started during the Southeastern Conference (SEC) era. Between 1893 and 1963, the teams went 55-29 each. However, the Yellow Jackets left the SEC after the 1963-64 season, and are now just 35-34 against the Bulldogs. However, it is still the most intense rivalry in college softball. The series has been played on alternate campuses since the 1995-96 season. Since then, Tech has had a 15-game winning streak, while Georgia is 7-10.

Team Name

The Georgia Tech softball team is headed to the NCAA Regional on Friday. The team waited a long time to hear its name on the selection show, but now it’s official: the Yellow Jackets have made it.
